Marine Drive is Mumbai in a single sweep — a 3.6 km curve of seafront boulevard along the Arabian Sea, backed by Art Deco buildings and lined with a wide promenade where the entire city seems to gather at dusk. Its arc of streetlights, glowing at night, earned it the nickname the 'Queen's Necklace'.
This is the city's collective living room: couples, families, joggers, dreamers and vendors all sharing the sea wall as waves crash below and the sun sinks into the water. Few urban sunsets anywhere are as beloved.
