Set in the leafy Ram Niwas Garden, the Albert Hall is the oldest museum in Rajasthan and a masterpiece of Indo-Saracenic architecture — all domes, arches and intricate stonework. By day it houses a rich state collection; by night, floodlit and reflected in its surrounds, it becomes one of Jaipur's most beautiful sights.

Inside, the galleries hold a wonderfully eclectic collection: miniature paintings, textiles, pottery, arms, sculptures, and even an Egyptian mummy. The building itself, though, is arguably the star exhibit.

Don't miss

  • The floodlit building after dark — a favourite evening spot.
  • The miniature paintings and textile galleries.
  • The Egyptian mummy and the coin collection.

Good to know

The pigeons and the illuminated façade make the plaza outside a lively local hangout in the evening. Combine a daytime museum visit or simply come after dark for the lights.
