Far out in the Bay of Bengal, Radhanagar Beach on Havelock Island is regularly ranked among the finest beaches in Asia — and it earns it. A long, gentle arc of soft white sand backed by dense forest, fronting impossibly clear turquoise water, it's the tropical-paradise beach that most people don't realise India has.

The Andaman Islands as a whole are a world apart — coral reefs, world-class scuba diving and snorkelling, and a slow, blissful island pace. Radhanagar is the jewel, especially at sunset when the sky and sea blaze with colour.

Don't miss

  • Sunset over the turquoise water.
  • Swimming and snorkelling in the clear, calm sea.
  • Scuba diving around Havelock's reefs.

Good to know

Reaching Havelock means a flight to Port Blair then a ferry — plan a few days to make it worthwhile. Avoid the monsoon (roughly May–Sept). Carry cash; connectivity and ATMs are limited on the islands.
