At just over 1,700 metres, Guru Shikhar is the highest peak in Rajasthan and in the whole Aravalli range — one of the oldest mountain systems on earth. A short climb from the road leads to a small temple dedicated to Dattatreya at the summit.

On a clear day the panorama is superb: the green folds of Mount Abu below, the plains stretching to the horizon, and a real sense of standing on the roof of the state. An old bell at the temple rings out across the hills.

Don't miss

  • The summit views across the Aravallis and plains.
  • The Dattatreya temple and its ancient bell.
  • The cool, fresh mountain air.

Good to know

It's a short but steep flight of steps to the top. Mornings usually offer the clearest views. Easily combined with the rest of a Mount Abu trip.
